HYDRAULIC ELEVATOR OIL COOLER PROBLEMS?
Oil coolers are used to maintain the temperature of the oil in a hydraulic elevator, the same way that the radiator maintains the temperature of the engine in your car.
They’re often not necessary, but when the elevator usage is expected to be high, then they will help keep the oil cool.
So if your hydraulic elevator is getting a lot of use and the tank is hot to the touch, an oil cooler can be added to help regulate the temperature.
If the oil gets too hot in a hydraulic elevator, it can lead to several problems. From levelling issues to speed control and even motor failure. These problems can be both costly and dangerous, so oil coolers MUST be maintained.
To work properly, the oil cooler must remove the heat from the elevator machine room. They are usually vented outside or at least into another area separated from the machine room (such as a warehouse).
At left and right are photos taken at a job in Toronto, installed by another company. The oil cooler isn’t vented anywhere, so it is heating the machine room. Hoses and cables should always be protected from sharp edges, but these are not protected.
Non-Proprietary Equipment
Some lift and elevator repair companies use parts or computer software that are proprietary to them, meaning they are the only company capable of working on them when a repair is needed. When it comes to our elevator services, Lincoln Lifts and Elevators uses only non-proprietary parts and equipment, allowing you the freedom to choose a future repair company.
